COMMUNITIES INVOLVED
Where and when is CIRC being conducted?
Starting around September 2007, with
a duration of 2-3 years, in the following locations:
Houston, Texas
Appleton, Neenah-Menasha, Grand Chute, Wisconsin
Vienna, Austria
Nijmegen, Netherlands
Hillsborough County, Florida
How were the sites chosen?
The sites were chosen to include a wide
variety of emergency medical systems and communities. We wanted
to include small, mid-sized and large systems, with different
forms of organization, in both urban and more rural communities.
Sites were selected based on their ability to comply with
the requirements of the trial, and on their commitment to
the preparations and training required for a successful outcome.
Were the communities involved in
the approval?
Yes. Depending on requirements of individual
sites, Council/Board and community meeting presentations were
made, phone surveys were conducted, and newspaper and television
ads were run.
Prior to trial initiation, the investigator/institution
received written and dated approval/favorable opinion from
the Regional Ethics Committee and/or Institutional Review
Board for the trial protocol, including the informed consent
process.
