WHAT IS THE AUTOPULSE?

The AutoPulse is a non-invasive cardiac support pump that has been shown to move more blood, more consistently than is possible with human hands. Easy to use and battery operated, it determines a person's size so that its load-distributing LifeBand® delivers the proper rate and depth of compressions for the individual. Unlike manual compressions given by human hands, the LifeBand compresses the entire chest, which contributes to more effective circulation of blood.

The AutoPulse System has been cleared for marketing in:

US - August 2002
EU - November 2003
Canada - November 2003
New Zealand - March 2005
Australia - February 2005
Japan - September 2006

Are there any risks associated with the AutoPulse?

There is no evidence that the AutoPulse or participation in the CIRC study involves increased risk. Being randomized into the mechanical CPR arm of the study does not pose any additional risks than being randomized into the manual CPR arm of the study.

Is anyone using the AutoPulse as part of their treatment protocol already?

Yes. As an FDA-cleared device, which is in compliance with American Heart Association and European Resuscitation Council current guidelines, the AutoPulse has been used commercially worldwide for over four years. Approximately 2000 units are in use by Emergency Medical Service agencies and hospitals globally.
